Coaching 101: CAYB Basics
Welcome to CAYB! Here are some important reminders and guidelines for coaches:
Five Tool Partnership:
CAYB follows the guidance and regulations of the Five Tool Youth Baseball program. While MLB rules govern play, Five Tool and CAYB may have exceptions.
Code of Conduct:
We expect all CAYB players, coaches, parents, and fans to act courteously and sportsmanlike on and off the field. Unsportsmanlike behavior won't be tolerated. Umpires have the authority to take necessary steps tp maintain control during games.
Field Duties
Scorekeeping:
Each age group will have scorekeeping box available at the concessions stand. In the box will be the official scorebook for your division and the scoreboard controller. Home team will be responsible for obtaining the scorekeeping box prior to the start of the game, and returning it at the conclusion of the each game.
Home Team: Scorebook: Home team maintains the official scorebook for the game. At the conclusion of the game please clearly indicate the winner and the final score. Both head coaches and the umpire must sign verifying the correct scores. THE HOME TEAM MUST PROVIDE THE SCOREBOOK KEEPER FOR EVERY GAME.
Visiting Team: Scoreboard: Visiting team operates the scoreboard for the game. THE VISITING TEAM MUST PROVIDE THE SCOREBOARD OPERATOR FOR EVERY GAME.
Field Maintenance:
Home: Rake your baseline (third to second) upon completion of the game.
Visitor: Rake your baseline (first to second) upon completion of the game.
Failure to perform field duties will result in forfeiture of a victory.
All Participants:
Please turn off fans and help keep CAYB litter-free.
Players Substitution Policy:
Used in rare circumstances to prevent forfeits. In the event that a team does not have enough players to compete, players from the opposing team may be utilized to occupy defensive positions limited to the outfield. These "substituted" players will not participate in batting for the team they are substituting for. Obtaining substitute players from teams other than your opponent may result in forfeiture of a victory.
CAYB Equipment Policy:
Bats must meet performance factor guidelines. No bat size restrictions for Division 12u and below. Helmets required for all players. Catchers need proper gear. No metal cleats allowed.
Team Managers/Moms:
Each team needs a team mom/manager. This is the primary point of contact for the team and CAYB in terms of opening day, pictures, sponsorships, uniforms, fundraising, CAYB events, etc.
Coaching Tips:
Each team is required to obtain $300 in team sponsorship(s).
Each team provides scorekeepers and must attend Scorekeeper's class.
Scorekeepers for 10U, 12U, and 14U record pitch counts.
Teams must be represented at field prep days, evaluation days, and draft days.
Coaches must adhere to CAYB practice policies.
Thank you for your dedication to CAYB. Let's make this season a great one!
